JABOL is free
software that runs on your Windows PC (or Mac, or LINUX box) that
allows you to generate web pages via e-mail. Put simply, it monitors
your inbox for data that you want to be added to your web page and
updates the page accordingly.
Possible applications for this software include
- Instantly publish photographs from a camera phone to the web from
wherever you are.
- Update your web page from a location with restricted or
firewalled internet access e.g. a public e-mail terminal.
- Maintain a blog or forum with no special software on the web
server.
I wrote this in 2004, and none of the above sounds that impressive any more. Plus changes in Java security mean that distributing this kind of software over the internet is not free any more, so I am withdrawing JABOL as of 19th June 2016.
JABOL includes the edtFTPj libraries from Enterprise Distributed
Technologies under the terms of the
Lesser GNU Public License, which means that I am
obliged to make the sources and documentation of that library available
(in tar.gz format) here.
